2014 Winter Host Hires Games Coordinator

MORDEN, MANITOBA - The Morden/Stanley/Winkler Host Society of the 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Games is pleased to announce the hiring of Jordan Driedger as the Games Coordinator.

Driedger is a graduate of Garden Valley Collegiate in Winkler and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management and Community Development with Distinction. He has been actively involved in community and high school sports as both an athlete and coach.

Dan Giesbrecht, Co-Chair of the Games Committee says Driedger will be an excellent fit for the position. “Jordan was selected on the basis of his education and past experience, his awareness of the region and his superior character traits. To meet the requirements for his degree, Jordan completed his fieldwork with Sport Manitoba as the 2011 Canada Winter Games Assistant. He was subsequently hired as the 2011 Western Canada Games Assistant. He possesses excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and I look forward to working with him as we plan and host the Games.”

Driedger will work directly with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors and will have a role in the all aspects of the Games including marketing, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, administration and operations. He is expected to start as Games Coordinator on October 9; the Games office will be located at the new RM of Stanley office building on Highway 14.

The 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games will take place March 2-8, 2014 in the host communities of Morden, Winkler and the RM of Stanley.
